Proud posture, energetic footwork |tre impor­tant. (Chor: Judith Magyar, music:Bela Vavrinecz) Kállai Kettős / Hungária Ensemble LEGENYES.Lads 1 Dance from Transylvania repre­sents the most sophisticated form of male dancing in Hungarian folklore.Its structure follows a set pattern,predetermined by the musical sentences of the dance. (chor:Kálmán Magyar, Accomp:Tárogató, .. guitar ) MAGYAR KÉPESKÖNYV,Hungarian Picturebook is an arrangement of folksongs and melodies firm various geographic regions of the country. The dance itself is from Zemplén County. Throughout history,the Southern foothills of the Carpathian Mountains served as a strong­hold against foreign invasion,moulding its in­habitants into hardworking,stout people. In dancing,women respond to the men's movements with equal vigour.The partners aim at pure enjoyment,not rivalry between men and women. ISTVÁN POÓR played on two unique Hungarian foik-instruments:TEKERŐ* and TÁROGATÓ.(See description of them below). The "HUNGÁRIA"Ensemble was formed in 1962 and throughout the years has appeared at many functions of Hungarian and American communities in the Northeast.This program was the Ensemble's fourth independent under­taking. C) The "drone" str.is tuned to lower G.The melody is played w/wooden keys,arranged parallel,giving octaves of the chrom.sc. Slav peasantsjSárosi'NépiHangszerek) The KODÁLY ENSEMBLE of TORONTÓ.with 38 dan­cers, a chorus of 35 men and women and a 19 piece orchestra made its "15th ANNIVERSARY CONCERT" a truly memorable evening for the 2000 (approx.) people gathered in the Minkler Auditorium of Seneca College.
