This new union of the democratic forces will carry . on, according to the demands of changed conditions, the work of the Hungarian Front (organized by the forces of Hungarian resist­ance during the war against German fascism), which later became the Hungarian National Independence Front. The Hungarian National Independence Front, which was founded at the end of 1944 on the initiative of the Hungarian Communist Party, fulfilled its programme. TAith the aid of the So­viet Army it helped Hungary to recover from the catastrophy of the lost war, recreated the ruined Hungarian statehood, assured the peace and the independence of the country. It executed the land reform, guaranteed freedom to its citizens, and established the Republic. Democratic Forces to Join Hands The consolidation of tho Hungar­­on a New Basis for New Tasks ' ian democracy, the guarantee and further development of its ach­ievements made it necessary and inevitable that the Hungarian de­mocratic forces should go further than the programme of the Hun­garian National Independence Front. In the meantime the internal conditions, which brought about tho Hungarian National Independ­ence Front in 194-4, have changed. Tho fight between tho people’s democracy and reactionary elements has sharpened. In tho course of this struggle, the majority of reactionary forces wore edged out of tho Hungarian National Independence Front. After tho li­quidation of feudalism, tho fight against big capital came up on tho agenda; restricting capitalistic exploitation, gradually eli­minating capitalistic elements became tho order of the day.
