Maybe they are good for establishing the truth of a theory. This theory, has to do with the social part of art which has changed recently much more than ever. We exist in an age, where technology in art is not important anymore. Art can be made in any way. Now we know that the world can not be saved by a person. For lack of a common culture communication can only be encoded partly. In addition trading in objects of art and the administration of art have overmanipulated the public. Nobody believes anybody. A lot of I people think that art is in its final stage. I reject this idea and I may express what the new social role of art is with Géza Németh's example. Géza Németh has Collected his experiences, evaluated them, drew conclusion throughout his career and tested them. He has been trying to correct faults, to change his Weltanschauung, always comparing emerging problems with the whole system. Slowly forming his own world concept, he can say that he has created himself and the person who has created it is himself. In his art, first he used the methods of classic expressionism, then he changed into a land-shape art which can be interpreted in several ways. Later in his "dictator series" he tried to express himself with the language of "gesture painting" , triggered by an idea. Recently he has been making a figurative series cut through by stripes. Géza Németh forms his own opinion on the state of being, death, and human relations. He lives and paints at the same time, being influenced by nobody. Using the events of the world his art is the field where he tries to apply his conclusions and where he reforms himself. Creator and creation merge in one unit. It is here that you can catch the new social role of art: the self-definition of personality is the only possibility to exist in this overcontrolled, overpopulated world. With the help of art freedom has become a world outlook not only a way of life. March, 1994, Budapest Levente Thury Apryl 13-May 11, 1994 HUNGARIAN CULTURAL CENTER 117049 Moscow, Mytnaya str. 1.
