Mózessy Egon Sándor ötvösművész (Ericsson Képzőművészeti Galéria, Budapest, 1995)

About myself: My name is Egon Sándor Mózessy. I was born in 1960 in Budapest. From the age of eleven-twelve on, when I was asked "What will you become when you grow up?" I replied: "goldsmith". Even though I did not really know what it meant I was preparing for it. One thing I was sure was that I did not want to be a jeweler. After graduating from the Specialized Secondary School of Fine Arts and Applied Arts I worked for three years at the State Mint as a chaser. I have graduated at the goldsmith department of the Hungarian Academy of Fine Arts with exceptional results in 1987. Besides manufacturing of traditional goldsmith technique, embossed-chased relief, I also have designed and performed portals, signboards, coats of arms, inscriptions. I have made coats of arms, plaques for several settlements. Performance of works of ecclesiastical art also have a great importance in my work. I think the branch of the art which I practice has always been an applied art. It is an applied art today too. But this is not a category of quality. I work principally for orders. Meeting the requirements of a given task as perfectly as possible may have sometimes the equal meaning for me as self expression. The "workshop-loneliness" may explain why I have undertaken and will undertake public activity. Since 1993 I have taught in several places in order to make more people see and maybe study the beauty in our rushing world. Egon Sándor Mózessy
