Utilizando técnicas mais frutíferas do que a tradicional cunhagem, desamarradas do simples conceito de "peças metálicas ordinariamente redondas", as medalhas podem hoje perpetuar para um futuro mais longínquo, a memória de uma data, de um facto, de um indivíduo, de uma colectividade, de um povo, de uma cultura,... As peças de João Duarte, que a Câmara Municipal de Alcochete tem o orgulho de apresentar no Núcleo de Arte Sacra do Museu Municipal, contêm em si grande intensidade simbólica e formal, desafiando os limites do material, propondo soluções que aliam o virtuosismo da criação à originalidade das formas apresentadas. São obras de arte que nasceram do íntimo diálogo da criatividade do artista com os materiais e que mereceram o nosso "olhar" qualitativo.
