HUNGARIAN “VIZSLÁS The author introduces the breeding history of vizslás that are used by hunting of pheasants, rabbits etc. and talks about their specifie qualities and accomplishments. He gives good advice and tells his interesting experiences to practicing hunters who use these dogs. We can learn a lot about their behaviour, usefulness, dignity, all of which should be taken into consideration when taking care of our own dogs. The author talks about the sad fact, that the hunters have actually been left out of the work of hunting and that the breeders urge the breeding of a type with small body, hardly capable of lifting a rabbit. "Hunting with a pointer is the index of the hunting culture” can be read in the article and this is followed by a sad statement, that due to several reasons, such hunting is losing its importance. In the forming hunting situation however, if the sport characteristic of hunting gains more attention, the role of vizslás may increase again. NEW C02 WEAPONS The FÉG’s factory in Makó is slowly becoming the center of Hungarian arms production, as more and more new weapons are being produced here that are attracting worldwide attention. In the article one can read about the pistols and guns functioning with C02-The two designers give a more detailed description of the CLG 62, 4.5 mm gun. The weapon is produced with an inserted bore and a special precision stock. Its biggest advantage however is the new valve system, which maintaines equal energy from first to last shot. The portable filling equipment that assures quick refilling has also been designed in Makó. We are also informed about the quick firing version that is under construction in the factory. BEAR SCHOOL FOR THE DICTATOR Nothing was expensive in Ceauqescu’s Romania when the dictator's amusements had to be organized. His most favourite passtime among all was hunting. He was demanding special trophies but most of all many game from his “subjects”. Our author from Transylvania is writing about the foolish venture that did not spare man, animal and money. Its sole purpose was to spare the Genius of the Kharpats to travel long distances for simply shooting a bear. Foresters and hunters caught the bear cubs which could be captured mostly by killing the mother bears. They were then raised in schools so that having grown up they could be ushered in front of the dictator's rifle. The venture has turned out to be a total fiasco for the released cubs simply disappeared, as did Ceatqescu in the change of history. BENELLL THE WORLD FAMOUS Among the ancient European arms factories that pride themselves with an old traditional past, there is to be found a factory dating back to barely more than two decades, and which is now ranking among the highest. The Benelli Armi in Urbino is Italy’s second largest company at present for the third of its kind in Europe. Its first success was achieved by the production of the automatice shot-guns capable of firing five shots per second. Later they appeared on the market with sport- and self-defence weapons. 60% of the Benelli products are being exported. They pride themselves to be the suppliers of such quality oriented buyers as Germany and Japan. Their products are sold to France, Portugal, Spain - where they have an affiliate - and to several other places. After all 2000 arms merchants trade their products. ‘GEPARDS’ Now, that the small bore weapons are gaining ground, one would think that the use of such weapons increase in the field of defence and arfare. But Hungarian scientists came to the conclusion, that bullets of bigger caliber, due to their more stable flight can be shot at a longer distance and has greater energy and cause more distruction. Two types have been developed in the 12.7 caliber.a long range, single-shot shooter gun, the GM1 type and the distinctive automatic refilling GM2 type. The former one can be used at far away, small targets such as humans or cars, while the latter one is capable of breaking down trenches, walls and destroying tanks and combat-helicopters. Both types are equipped with a 6 to 12x magnifying telescope and have been designed mainly for combat against terrorists.
