Murányi Gábor Képjegyzetek 1989-ről 1989-ről sokféleképpen lehet írni, beszélni. Lelkesült nosztalgiával, a hosszú és megbicsaklott 20. század lezárultát ünnepelve. Történészi tárgyszerűséggel, leszögezve, hogy az eltelt idő, két évtized a tudományos számvetésre még nem elegendő. Csalódottsággal, reményeink, álmaink meghiúsulását siratva. A következő generáció értetlenkedésével. Pamfletben. Kulcsregényben. Személyes hangú esszében. Még személyesebb memoárban. Politológusi elemzésbe ágyazva a kívül-belül állást. Gazdaság- vagy társadalomtörténeti tanulmányban. Versben. És: „objektív” képekben. 2009 a visszatekintés éve volt. A két évtizeddel ezelőtti (sorsfordító, korszakos, világtörténelmi jelentőségű) esztendőről tengernyi (meghatározó, nélkülözhetetlen, megkerülhetetlen) publikáció jelent meg. Szó, szó, szó és kép és kép. Mivel 2009 nekem a lábjegyzetelés éve, maradok hát e megcsontosodott szokásomnál, s a Fotóriporter 1989-es tematikus számában megjelenő képekhez csupán laza, csapongó jegyzeteket írok. (S ha a szövegekhez lábjegyzet, akkor a fotókhoz képjegyzet dukál.) El nem használtak - legelőször is ez ötlött fel bennem, amikor Bánkuti András kezembe nyomta az önszemével válogatott fotókollekciót. Az események, persze, nagyon is ismertek, a róluk és ott és akkor készült felvételekből sok tíz, talán egy-kétszáz ikonizálódott is rendesen az elmúlt két évtizedben. A jelen összeállítás azonban ismerősen ismeretlen. Vagy: ismeretlenül ismerős. A helyszín, az idő, az esemény azonos, csak a nézőpont, a szemszög, a megörökített részlet más. Másra fókuszáló. De erről majd a maguk helyén. Mikor kezdődik 1989? Naptár szerint 1988 szilvesztere után. De 1989 különleges év, s van olyan elemzés, amely - nemzetközi kontextusba ágyazottan - egészen 1956-ig megy vissza (s a cseh 1968-at és a lengyel 1981-et is onnan eredezteti, illetve közbülső állomásoknak tekinti). Más értelmezés szerint a kezdet 1986, a reykjavíki Gorbacsov-Reagantalálkozó, illetve a kommunista pártok vezetőinek moszkvai tanácskozása volt, merthogy ezen alkalmakkor derült ki: a szovjet pártfőtitkár szakít a Brezsnyev-doktrínával (legalábbis ekkor adott először, végül is betartott ígéretjelzést arra, hogy még Gábor Murányi Picture notes on 1989 One can write or talk about 1989 in many different ways. With the incomprehension of the next generation. In a roman ä clef or a pamphlet. An essay with a personal tone. Or an even more personal memoir. A political analysis whether from inside or outside the system. An economic or social history paper. A poem. And in ‘objective’ pictures. 2009 was the year of looking back. This year a mass of (seminal, indispensable, inexorable) publications appeared about the year 1989, (a reversal of fortune, epoch-making, of world historical significance) that took place two decades ago. Words, words, words and pictures and pictures. For me, 2009 was the year of footnotes1, so I will stay with my age-old habit and for the pictures appearing in Fotóriporter on the subject of 1989, write only loose and rambling notes. (If the text has footnotes, it is only proper that the photos should have ‘picture notes’.) They were never used - is what first occurred to me when András Bánkuti pressed into my hands the collection of photos he had himself selected. The events, of course, are very well known, and of the photos taken of them there and then many, perhaps one or two hundred, have become icons in the last twenty years. The present selection, however, is familiarly unfamiliar. Or unfamiliarly familiar. The place, the time and the events are the same, only the viewpoint, the angle, the recorded detail are different. The focus is on something else. But more about this in its rightful place. When did 1989 start? According to the calendar, after New Year’s Eve 1988.
