In cooperation with the Hungarian Institute of Agricultural Engineering, Faculty of Agricultural Engineering, Gödöllő University of Agricultural Sciences. Subject-matter: Mechanization of production processes in Agriculture. Purpose: Presenting the achievements of researches in Hungary and abroad, related with the mechanization of agriculture. The plenary session was opened by Dr. Csaba Székely, Rector of GATE (Gödöllő University of Agricultural Sciences) on the first day of the two-day conference, followed by a lecture delivered by Dr. Ferenc Kovács, ordinary member of MTA (Hungarian Academy of Sciences), chairman of the Department of Agricultural Sciences, on the problems of the development of agriculture as reflected by the contributions of the Academy. The Academy’s program of joining Europe. Therefore, it is going to mobilize the scientific committees of the Department of Agricultural Sciences and the scientists working in the fields of agriculture. A scientific exploration work is initiated with the in Gödöllő objective of highlighting the crucial tasks to be performed by Hungary in making preparations for joining Europe (laws, product standards, quality recommendations and requirements etc.). The second lecture was delivered by Dr. József Hajdú, director of the Ministry’s Institute of Technology. Emphasizing the major conclusions of lectures delivered at the Section’s sessions, he spoke about the tasks to be performed in the near future in the field of agrotechnical development (environment, quality, management) as well as about the technical potentials (automation, electronization, GPS), mentioning the major sectors and technologies. István Bölöni commemorated the activities and major works of Viktor Tallmayer, the agricultural scientist, who had been born 150 years ago. Viktor Tallmayer was a researcher at and head of the FIRST HUNGARIAN ROYAL AGRICULTURAL MACHINE TESTING STATION AT ÓVÁR for over 30 years in the latter half of the 1800’s. The plenary session was followed by consultations in 8 sections discussing the following subject-matters. - Field plant-growing technologies - Mechanization of the growing of horticultural cultures - Technologies for the preparation and processing of animal feeds/fodders - Anima-keeping technologies and the environment - Basic researches in agricultural engineering - Economic issues of agricultural production - Testing agricultural machinery, measurement technical procedures the The ninth subject-matter was FORUM of MACHINE MANUFACTURERS, at which new entrepreneurs and specialists of new business ventures informed the audience about their achievements and new products that deserve public interest. The primary objective of the organizing committee is to propagate the new research achievements as well as to enable the members of the young generation to present their papers to the public. The Conference is designed primarily to deal with researches in Hungary, but the organizers were greatly pleased to host 30-35 research workers from the neighbouring countries attending the conference every year to deliver lectures or present posters (Germany, Austria, Slovakia, the Ukraine, Lithuania, Croatia, Rumania). This year Rumanian colleagues attended the Conference in largest number, from universities and research institutes at Temesvár, Kolozsvár and Nagybánya. Of the 158 lectures of the Conference, 69 were delivered in the Sections, the rest accompanied the presentations of posters. The Conference was attended by 350-400 interested people during the two days. The lectures delivered at the Conference will be published by the organizers in a collection, too.
