MIKLÓS LEHOCZKY LIFE AND WORK OF IMRE KARÁCSON Imre Karácson Doctor of Divinity was born on 19 February 1863 at Toma. He completed his secondary studies in Veszprém, Sopron and Győr. He was ordained by bishop János Zalka in the Cathedral of Győr on 6 July 1885. From 1 July 1887 he served at the Episcopal See as assistant, later as deputy clerk of the Holy See. The young priest carried out pastoral work for two years. On 1 January 1891 the teacher dr Imre Karácson was appointed as director of Royal Catholic Teacher Training Institution of Győr. Imre Karácson after consulting with the community of teachers offered schol­arships to excellent students, while those in need were provided financial and boarding help. He made longer trips to the Balkan Peninsula and Asia Minor. In order to carry out scientific research he left Hungary and moved to Constantinople. Already in the first years of his priesthood he dealt with the relics of Hungarian-Turkish origin, then later on he compiled the first Hungarian-Turkish dictionary. He studied the archives there as well as collected and published Hungarian relics. He died far away from his home on 2 May 1911. He was laid to rest in Győr with gorgeous ceremony.
