FILMS "DIVORCES, DIVORCES" is a comedy consisting of five novellas, directed by Rangel Vulchanov. Authors of the various films are screenplay writers Hristo lliev, Georgi Danailov, Vesselin Branev, Alexander Tomov. Directors are Georgi Stoev, Ivanka Grubcheva, Vesselin Branev, Ivailo Djambazov. Cameramen: Hristo Totev, Plamen Gelinov, Ivailo Penchev; artists: Vladimir Lekarski, Atanas Yanakiev, Olga Afinogenova. Composers: Kiril Donchev and Genko Genkov. "MARGARIT AND MARGARITA" is an author's film by director Nikolai Volev, focussing mostly on acute problems in the life of young people and enjoying the great spontaneous interest of a wide viewing public. Cameraman: Krassimir Kostov; artist: Ivan Andreev. The cast includes actors Hristo Shopov, Irine Zhambona, and Vassil Mihailov. "I, THE COUNTESS" is a psychological drama, the screenplay written by Raymond Vagenshtain and Peter Popzlatev; director Peter Popzlatev; cameraman: Emil Hristov; composer Georgi Genkov. The film received the FIPRESSI Award /International Federation of the Film Press/ "for an original approach to the drug theme”; as well as the prize for best actress at the International Festival of Red Cross Films, Varna '89, to Svetlana Yancheva. 'THE CARNIVAL" is a feature filpi based on the novel The Mirror Paradox by science fiction writer Lyuben Dilov. Georgi Danailov is screenplay writer of the film which deals with severe problems of contemporary life. Director is Ivanka Grubcheva. One of the leading parts is played by famous film director Rangel Vulchanov. The cast also includes Boryana Pouncheva /documentary film director/, Georgi Kaloyanchev, Stefan Danailov, Peter Slabakov, among others. EXHIBITIONS SOFIA '89 is a general art exhibition dedicated to the 110th anniversary of Sofia as capital of Bulgaria. The display includes over 300 works of pictorial art, sculpture, black-and-white art of artists from all over the country. "BULGARIANS AND NATURE" is an exhibition mounted in the capital and consisting of items from the ethnographic museums dating back to the end of the 19th c. and beginning of the 20th c., implements of labour, samples of folk art and documentary photos. "PAINTING, SCULPTURE AND BLACK-AND-WHITE*ART" displays the newly acquired exhibit of the National Art Gallery and the Sofia City Gallery for the 1983- 1989 period. Nearly 100 works are on show presenting the strivings, moods and styles of Bulgarian artists. A GENERAL ART EXHIBITION in the town of Sliven has been organized in the "Sirak Skitnik" Hall. This traditional event in the art world has attracted 32 participants with 97 works, different in subject matter and technique, in the fields of oil painting, sculpture and black-and-white art. BORIS DIMOVSKI, a Bulgarian artist, undoubtedly one of the masters of caricature in this country, presents the display "Dialogues with Theophrastus" mounted in the hall of the Literary Studio Theatre "Vuzrazhdane" in the capital. This exhibition is a result of the creative collaboration of the artist with poet and satirist Radoi Ralin, author of Theophrastus, Head of Personnel. The illustrations to the book by Boris Dimovski are on show. THE EXHIBITION-COMPETITION for young artists organized for the fourth time in Sofia, presented 420 works by 152 authors from 17 countries. The grand prize was awarded to Nedko Solakov /Bulgaria/.
