Art de Magyar (Budapest, 1994)

first direct contact with Hungarian art glass took place in 1993. It was our intention to present to the public another and until now undiscovered facet of contemporary studio glass. From the beginning there was no doubt that the impressive work of Hungarian artists would find acceptance in the hearts of our collectors. Our exhibition ’’Art de Magyaar” held in April 1994 proved what we had only guessed. The enthusiasm for the exhibited pieces was tangible. The public made it evident that they wanted to see more. This catalogue accompanies the second exhibition of Hungarian glass artists. Although our gallery specializes in international glass art, we are pleased to present a sampling of breathtaking ceramies and jewellry. This combination of glass, clay, metal and gemstones reveals the unbounded spirit, imagination and craftsmanship of our Hungarian exhibitors. It goes without saying that these artists are well-known in their own country and on other continents. The time is now ripe for a breakthrough in Holland. We would like to thank everyone who has contributed to make this exhibition an unforgetable event. Special thanks go to the National Cultural Foundation Budapest who has undertaken the sponsorship of this catalogue.
