Záborszky Gábor 1980-as években készült képeinek meghatározó anyagai voltak a fa, homok, föld, törek. 1991-től ezek helyét fokozatosan felváltotta a papír, pontosabban a papírmassza. Az első időkben a fehér, folyékony papírt a földre kiterítve szárította, színezte különböző természetes anyagokkal, mint tea, kávé, vörösbor, cékla. Majd a félnedves papír egy óriási bútorprés alatt különböző tárgyak formáit vette fel. Az arany — földképein és papírmunkáin egyaránt — a középkort idézve, mint a transzcendencia hordozója jelent meg. Remek találmány, hiszen a szem nem tudja bemérni a felfénylő arany térbeli helyzetét, és ezzel a bizonytalansággal egy valóság feletti teret hoz létre. A legújabb munkáinál az arany szerepe átértékelődik. A puha szőnyegként feltekert papír érzéki formája ütközik a kemény fém csillogásával. A végletesen polarizált alkotások megjelenítik az emberi lét pszichoszomatikus egységét, csakúgy mint korunk aktualitását: a szoftver és hardver ellentétét és ugyanakkor egymásra utaltságát. The dominant materials used in Gábor Záborszky’s works in the 1980-s were wood, sand, soil and chaff. From 1991 these materials were gradually replaced by paper, particularly paper-pulp. When he began to use these materials he made the white liquid paper dry, spread it on the ground and coloured it with different materials of nature such as tea, coffee, red wine and beetroot. Later the semihumid paper took over the shape of different objects under a huge furniture pressing machine. Gold — on his "soil pictures" and also on the paperworks — appears as the medium of transcendence recalling the Middle Ages. This is a splendid invention, as our eyes are unable to measure the extensity of the shinning gold, and with this uncertainty creating a space beyond reality. "Gold" gets a new interpretation on his newest works. The sensational shape of soft paper winded up as a rug collides with the glitter of hard metal. The extremely polarised works of art evoke the psychosomatic unity of human existence, as well as the actuality of our age: the opposite of software and hardware, and at the same time their interdependence.
