Kovács Tamás (Budapest, 1999)

Recommendation Kovács Tamás is a painter, graphic artist and sculptor. He was born in Szeged, Hungary on January 17, 1964 and presently lives and works in Budapest. His work first appeared on the Hungarian and European art scenes in 1979 and he has been a constantly contributing member since. He has held exhibitions in numerous Hungarian museums, galleries and exhibition rooms all across the country and his work is permanently displayed in group exhibitions organized in Germany, Poland and Spain. His work can also be found in many public and private collections in Hungary and abroad. The roots of his work are founded in the constructionist art tradition, the basis of whic.h grew out of the work of artists like Moholy-Nagy László, Malevics and Kassák Lajos. His work is characterized by the domination in the order of geometrical forms; The laconic, reduced means of expression; The tempered use of color; Thespatial order; The logical style of composition. All of these components are ubiquitous in his work. Due to his they are the incarnation of an authentic artistic woldview of the century, at the end of the century. Upon viewing his work, the serial and individual graphics, the paintings, the statuettes, his use of objects and his spatial design, we see the portrait of a multifaceted artist come to life. An artist whose lifework is careful considered and guided by consistent conception. I sincerely hope that his application will be accepted because I think that this opportunity will provide new impetus for his art. Tibor Wehner Art historian
