• E könyvben számos olyan ékszer látható, melyben különböző régóta őrzött, feledésre ítélt csontdarabot, -töredéket, -szilánkot kívántam megóvni. E műtárgyak létrehozása érdekében soha nem pusztítottak el élőlényeket. Alkotni maradványból maradandót - ez volt a célom. (B, A.) • A bemutatott ékszerek többsége eredeti méretben látható. Ahol ettől mégis eltértünk - akár kicsinyítettük, akár nagyítottuk a tárgy képét -, ott mindig szerepel a valós méret láttatását segítő mértékskála. • A tárgyak létrehozását jelző évszám sokszor több éves folyamatra utal. Ez a gondolat megszületése és a tárgy megvalósulása között eltelt idő lehető legpontosabb jelzése. ■ The illustrations in this volume show numerous pieces of jewelry in the creation of which my aim had been the preservation of various chunks, fragments, and slivers of bone collected long ago and doomed to oblivion. No living creature has been deprived of life for the purpose of creating these objects. My aim has always been to create something lasting out of remnants. (A. In the instances where we have diverged from this practice by reducing or enlarging the image we always include a scale to indicate actual dimensions. ■ The dates marking the creation of these pieces often refer to a process lasting several years. This is the most accurate way of conveying the time elapsed between the original concept and the realization of the piece itself.
