The journal will publish relevant theoretical studies, as well as empirical analyses and, on occasion, factual ‘situation reports’ either on single countries/issues, or of a comparative nature. In addition, reviews of new books within its area of interest will be published, as well as short statistical reports on the region. Some articles for the journal will be invited contributions presented for discussion at panel meetings, and some will be based on round table discussions of cirtical issues for the process of transition. All articles, from whatever source, will be subject to normal refereeing. Articles are accepted for publication subject to the condition that they have not already been published elsewhere.
