Pinczehelyi Sándor
pinczehelyi sándor — akárcsak a pécsi műhely többi tagja — először a geometrikus művészethez vonzódott; kiállítása azonban, mely az utolsó három évet foglalja össze, már a processz- és a konceptművészet jellegzetes problémáit dolgozza fel. korábbi konstruktivista munkái a színes forma és a tér nyelvét vizsgálták, újabb fotóinak és fotósorozatainak tárgya az idő. két eljárás-séma kínálkozik most a művész számára: a környezetében megfigyelt folyamatok dokumentálása, valamint folyamatok mesterséges létrehozása, a tárgyi jellegű műalkotás fogalma mindkét esetben alkotási folyamattá tágul, az idő múlásának érzékeltetése természetesen nem a folyamat kontinuitásának megőrzésével történik (erre csak a film képes), hanem szakaszokra bontásával, esetleg csupán kezdő-, és végpontjának szembeállításával. az időbeli kontinuitás/diszkontinuitás viszony képi metaforái adják meg az idő tipikus megjelenési formáit; mennyiségi és minőségi formai változás, események periodikus váltakozása, növekedés és elfogyás, hely- és helyzetváltoztató mozgás, régi és új szembeállítása, egy egység részeinek felsorolása, stb. az elvont viszonyok konkrét megjelenítése nem ritkán paradox képi metaforákat eredményez, más szóval a „filozófiai” probléma ábrázolására szolgáló banális téma a művészi értelmezés ironikus szándékáról tanúskodik. tévedés lenne azt állítani, hogy pinczehelyi folyamat-műveivel hátat fordított konstruktivista múltjának: a folyamatosan változó környezetet, vagy egy esemény fázisait bemutató képsor közeli rokona egy formai permutációs vagy variációs sorozatnak, pinczehelyi régi és új művészi világát szerencsésen kapcsolják öszsze az utcakő-munkák. (az utcakő témája minduntalan megjelenik a legújabb magyar művészetben!) az első képsor mértani rendben lerakott útburkolat-struktúrát mutat — többféle nézetből (nosztalgia a rendezett formavilág iránt, és ugyanakkor a körüljárás folyamatának érzékeltetése), egy másik (megfordítható) képsor kockakövek rendezetlen halmazából kibontakozó ötágú csillagot ábrázol, mely ismét átvezet a csillagrajzolás folyamatának dokumentációjához, és egyszersmind pinczehelyi talán legérdekesebb, jelentésben leggazdagabb témájához, az ötágú csillag, a sarlóval és kalapáccsal együtt, megjelenik nála folyamat-, sőt testalakítási problémaként, de úgy is, mint szabályos mértani forma — és miközben a távoli múlt felé mutat (villard de honnecourt pentagrammájáig és tovább), aktuális politikai szimbólum szerepét is megőrzi. beke lászló sandor pinczehelyi, like other members of the pécs workshop was first attracted by geometric art, but his present exhibition summing up the last three years is dealing with the typical problems of process & conceptual art. while his earlier, constructivistic works have examined the language of coloured form and space, the subject of his recent photographs and photosequences is time, two patterns of method present themselves here for the artist: one of them is to document processes observed in one's environment, the other is to create processes artificially, the notion of works of art of an object character widens to a creative process in both cases, certainly, the representation of the progress of time cannot take place by preserving the continuity of the process (only the film can do that), but by dividing it to phases, or perhaps only by giving the contrast between the starting and ending point of it. the visual métaphores of the relation between continuity and discontinuity present the typical aspects of time: the quantitative and qualitative formal change, the periodical alternation of events, increase and decrease, changes of place and position, the contrast of old and new, the enumeration of parts of a unity, etc., the concrete presentation of abstract relations is often resulting in paradoxical visual métaphores, in other words, the banal theme serving the presentation of a „philosophical" problem manifests the ironic intention of artistic interpretation. it would be a mistake to say that pinczehelyi’s process works are in a sharp contrast with his constructivistic past: the sequence presenting the continuously changing environment or the phases of an event is in close relationship with a formal permutational or variational sequence, the present and former artistic world of pinczehelyi are favourably connected by his paving-stoneworks, (the theme of paving-stone is reappearing again and again in recent hungarian art!) the first sequence shows a pavement laid down in geometric order (a nostalgia towards a well-ordered world of form, and the representation of circumambulance at the same time), another (reversible) sequence represents a five-pointed star developing from the orderless heap of paving-stones, this leads to the documentation of the process of star-drawing and, on the other hand, to pinczehelyi’s perhaps most interesting, most meaningful theme, the five-pointed star with sickle and hammer appears in his works as a problem of process- and body-formation, but also as a regular geometric form and while it points to the remote past (to villard de honnecourt’s pentagramme and further) it also keeps its role as a political symbol. lászló beke (translated by j. v.)
