CONTENTS A I m ă ș a n B. : Towards new successes in mining industry. Revista Minelor nr. 1/1959, p. 3—5. Bogdan G h. : New contributions to the study of the methan emanations in coal mines. The authors make a thorough analysis of methan .diffusion zones in gas bearing rocks surrounding the coal mines, creating possibilities to determine graphiaclly and analytically these zones. Revista Minelor nr. 1/1059, p. 6—18. Bonea I.: Another computing method in mining polygonometry. The author is suggesting a calculating method for underground polygon surveying, by using the method of coordinates transformation. This method offers several advantages enumerated in the conclusions of this paper. Revista Minelor nr. 1/1959, p. 18—19. Secară Gh. : Advances in the construction of control apparatus of mine-air. The construction principles and operating manner are exposed of some apparatus for determining certain gases from the mine air composition, based on the properties of the infrared rays. It gives also informations concerning the equipment of fixed stations for mine air analysis and of certain places with automatically recording and long distance transmitting signals apparatuses. Revista Minelor nr. 1/1959, p. 20—26. Samoilă I. and Popa I.: Chatcographic survey on complex pyrite and copper ores from Leșul Ursuluiregion. It briefly describes the geological aspect of the region giving also the results of mineraiogical survey on patterns obtained from the deposit. The microscopic investigation led to the identification of: pyrite, blende, chaicopyrite, galena, mispickel, tetrahedrite, magnetite, marcasite. chaicozine, covellite, bornite, gold, bismuthinite and molybdenite as metal minerals, and chlorite, quartz, chalcite, muscovite, sericite and barytine as gangue minerals. Metal minerals are described according to the kinds of ore, with the parageneses and granulometric classes characteristics. It concludes with considerations on genesis of deposit. Revista Minelor nr. 1/1959, p. 30—35. M a i e r u O. : Concerning the alteration process of the sepentine from Danube valley. It gives the following remarks on the alterated serpentines from Danube valley: a) The decomposition process of serpentine from the Danube valley is a unique phenomenon in Rumania. It is due to the excessive humidity of the region and covers a very limited area (8/10 km) ; b) From this decomposition we get many secondary minerals; c) The decomposed rock contains a great part of ,Ni hydroxide, soluble in organic acid and diluted mineral acids. Garnierite is likely a geliform mixture of secondary minerals obtained from the decomposition process of serpentine in specific conditions. Revista Minelor nr. 1/1959, p. 35—37,
