MOZAIKMVÉSZET MA A mozaiktechnika akkor emelkedik magas esztétikai szintre, ha a mozaikszemekre (az ún. opuszokra) való felbontás vagy az azokból való építkezés nem kényszerűség, hanem kifejező eszköz. A legmagasabb színvonalú mozaikok közös jellemzője, hogy az őket alkotó mozaikszemek külön-külön megőrzik egyéni karakterüket, saját formájukat, színüket, fényüket, hangulatukat, s így saját egyéniségükkel gazdagítják az egészet. Ez a mozaiktechnikának alapvető erénye, s ez az, ami a festészet önálló műfajává emeli, akár kő-, akár üvegmozaikról is van szó. A mozaikművészet ma egyik korszakváltását éli. Talán feltárul ennek folyamata bemutatkozó kiadványunkban. Napjainkban a változó építészeti tér kibővülő igényei és a modern technológiák által felvetett esztétikai kérdések jelentenek kihívást. A modern módszerekkel megmunkált természetes kő és a nagy színtelítettségű, fejlett receptúra szerint, ipari mennyiségben előállított üvegmozaik felhasználása technikailag ma már semmilyen korlátba nem ütközik. The common trait of mosaics of the highest standard is that each of the tesserae preserve their own character, forms, colours, lights and moods, thus imbuing the whole with their own individuality. This is the essential quality of the technique of mosaic, and this is what makes it an independent genre of painting, be it stone or glass mosaic. Mosaic art today is experiencing a change of era, traces of which are perceptible in these pages. Nowadays the changing, expanding needs of architectural space and aesthetic questions posed by modern technologies represent challenges. There are technically no bounds to using natural mosaic stone processed through modern methods or mosaic glass produced industrially to a developed formula in strong colours. A mozaikművész számára pedig mindez tervezési, kivitelezési vagy akár restaurálási feladatot is jelenthet. E füzet két alkotó: apa és fia munkásságát mutatja be. Képző- és iparművészek, és mindkettejük élete a mozaikművészet igézetében telik. Minden lehetséges felhasználási területét bejárták pályájuk során, miközben sok nemes anyag, színes kő és mozaiküveg fordult meg a kezük alatt. A különböző műfajok, feladatkörök szerint bemutatott munkáik - egyéni művészi felfogásukon túl - a mai magyar mozaikművészet fejlődéséről is tanúskodnak, materials makes using them easier. The thoughtful use of mosaic, due to its material and execution, has qualities that add to the beauty and functional values of the architectural space. Mosaic can be used as a decorative exterior covering on high standard buildings, as part of interior design, or as a medium of "high art”, an independent work of art, a painterly, expressive surface. For the mosaic artist this can mean the tasks of designing, execution and even restoration. This booklet presents the works of two artists, father and son. One a fine artist, the other an applied artist, mosaic art has enchanted the lives of them both. Their careers encompass every aspect of its use, while all kinds of noble materials, coloured stones and glass have passed through their hands.
